I was playing rugby when I came to a sudden halt. It bent my tibia to the right on my straight right leg, causing a painless pop on that knee. There was minimal swelling, mostly tenderness.

Dr Paul’s Response: a MRI of the knee should reveal the definitive status of the soft tissue involved, especially meniscus, ligaments, cartilage, patellar tendon, patellar bursa, along with the three pes anserine tendons and bursa. Once you have the diagnosis, treatment should be specific. The $40,000 question, what is the biomechanical cause of this injury? RX: Get to a sports doctor ASAP to get it all sorted out, treated and most importantly, learn how to prevent it and other common sports injuries before they put you in the doctor’s reception room in the 1st place!
